We have been busy learning all about Avraham and Sara this week! We learned that Avraham was sent on a journey, and he didn’t have cars, airplanes, buses, or boats to travel with. To practice our fine motor skills, we used rubber bands to rescue and trap “cars” on popsicle sticks. We also learned that Avraham walked through the desert. We are ready for Chanukah! We learned the story of the mean King Antiochus, who told the Jewish people they couldn’t be Jewish. We learned how the brave Maccabees fought back and never gave up their faith. We also learned about the miracles, including finding a small amount of oil to light the Menorah in the Beit Hamikdash and how the small Maccabee army defeated the huge Greek army. We created Menorahs out of clay in the shape of Israel, where these big miracles took place.
