We have been busy as bees preparing for Rosh Hashana and enjoying all of our provocations!

The shofar is a central symbol of Rosh Hashana, and we learned that it comes from the antlers of a ram. In our very own “shofar factory,” we measured, sanded, and explored shofars using magnifying glasses, discovering the different sounds each one makes. We practiced recognizing the sounds: Tekiah is a long blast, Shevarim has three medium blasts, and Teruah has nine short blasts. We even experimented with jars and other items to explore sound in new ways.

We also celebrated the sweetness of the holiday with apples! We painted with apples, peeled them, and baked apple pies in our Dramatic Bake Shop. We tasted different kinds of apples and graphed our favorites.

Additionally, we beaded apples onto an apple tree and read stories about apples and honey.

In literacy, our letter of the week is Aa, and our Hebrew letter is Alef. We practiced writing Alef in shaving cream and placed stickers on all the Aa’s we recognized.

Our artist focus this week was Vincent Van Gogh. Inspired by him, we created beautiful sunflower paintings.

We were so excited to have our first Yoga session of the year with Ms. Ace!

We utilized our gross motor skills and had lots of fun at Playball with Coach Anthony.

We love ending our week with a Shabbat party and challah baking. Wishing everyone a Shabbat Shalom!
