Lag B'Omer is here! We had a busy week celebrating and preparing for Lag B'Omer, which starts this Saturday night/Sunday.
We read stories, sang songs, danced and celebrated with the traditional bonfire and s’mores! Rabbi Akiva teaught us to love every fellow Jew just like you love yourself!
Rabbi Akiva realized he didn’t know any Torah or the Alef Bet when he was older, so he began learning and became a great Rabbi. Using pipettes, we tried to make a hole in a rock, inspired by Rabbi Akiva's discovery.
One of his students, Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, was famous for studying Torah with his son and hiding in a cave to do so when the Romans tried to forbid it. We tasted carob and compared it with other flavors, like the carob tree that Hashem provided near the cave for Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai.
We enjoyed reviewing our Alef Bet with frozen water balloons, chiseling out the letters and practicing their sounds.
We fished for the alphabet to review all the letters.
We had fun exploring the work of Jewish artist Otto Freundlich with colored shapes.
And enjoyed washing cars for more sensory fun.
We loved music with Morah Robyn.
We ended our week with challah baking and a beautiful Shabbat party.
Shabbat Shalom!
