Sounds of the Shofar!

We have had a wonderful week learning all about Shofars and getting ready for Rosh Hashana.

We learned about the sounds the shofar makes and practiced making them. Tekiah, one long sound. Shevarim, Three medium sounds, and Teruah, Nine short sounds. We loved listening to Rabbi blow the shofar for us too.

We measured how many shofars tall we are. We also took a yardstick to measure how many inches the different shofars are.

We used Magnifying glasses and looked at the rough, smooth, and bumby feel of the shofars. We know the Shofar is a Ram’s horn and is cut to create a hole and make a sound. We used our listening skills to hear the different sounds and compare soft to loud and loudest.

We enjoyed sponge painting and tracing the shofar this week and continued with the artist Moly.

The letters of this week are Alef for our Hebrew Alphabet and letter A. We used apples to match the letter Aleph. We cut apples with a special apple slicer and turned them into apple chips.

Yoga with Ms Ace and Playball with coach Anthony were amazing this week too.

We love ending our week with challah baking and celebrating our grand Shabbat Party together.
