Scales & Whales

What a special and busy week we had as we got ready for Yom Kippur!

We learned the story of Jonah and how he tried to hide from Hashem and ended up in the

whale, and we even climbed inside a life-size cardboard whale of our own.

We talked about how on Yom Kippur, G-d looks at all of our good deeds on a great scale, and we pray for a year filled with goodness. To bring the idea to life, we balanced all sorts of items on a scale and explored how different things weigh.

• 

• 

• 

We learned all about different types of coins and that when we give to others, we are adding to our good deeds. We used our pincer grip to practice giving tzedakah.

• 

• 

• 

We also created beautiful Sukkot projects and drew self-portraits inspired by Van Gogh by looking carefully at ourselves in the mirror.

• 

• 

In our letter exploration, we discovered the letter B and the Aleph-Bet letter Bet by placing balls on the B, and we tied it right back to our Rosh Hashanah bee fun.

We wrapped up the week with a grand Shabbat party in the courtyard, complete with challah baking.
